Death of C. T. Cannon

A telegram from Pearsall, Texas, announced the death of Mr. C. T. Cannon at that place from pneumonia, Tuesday morning, 27th inst.  His age was 56 years and six months.  He had been ill about ten days; relatives here had been notified of his serious condition Monday, and his brother Roll and son Robert started to Pearsall yesterday morning, but were recalled at Moberly, Mo., by the news of his death.

Mr. Cannon was sheriff of this county from 1874 to 1878, serving two terms.  He went to Texas about ten years ago, where near Pearsall he has been engaged in the stock business.  His wife died here on Thanksgiving Day, 1890.  Seven children survive, Mrs. Joseph Dale, now in Texas, Mrs. Will O. Sharp, Mrs. Will C. Newton, Robert, of Carthage, Ollie, Roll, and Richard, the latter in Peoria.

"Neil" Cannon was respected here and in his Texas home as an honest man and good citizen.  His surviving family have widespread sympathy.
