Daren Earsel Campbell, 80, of Hamilton, Ill., died at 4:50 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Ill.
Born May 6, 1923, in Majorville, Ill., he was the son of Thomas and Inez Burrow Campbell. He married Lelia Bernice Agnew. She died in March 1992.
Mr. Campbell worked for Hubinger Co. in Keokuk for 33 years before retiring in 1986.
He went to Walnut Grade School and graduated from Fountain Green High School.
He was awarded two Bronze Stars in China and Burma for bravery. He was a member of the Hamilton VFW and the Grain Millers Local 148. He enjoyed gardening, yard work and going to auctions.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda B. McCann of Richmond, Va.; a son, Randy Daren Campbell of Hamilton; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Okle Browning of LaHarpe, Ill., and Era Sissy Long of Decatur, Ill.; and three brothers, Cleo Campbell of LaCrosse, Ill., Galen Campbell of Beloit, Wis., and Dee Campbell of Los Angeles.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a son, two brothers and a sister.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at the Lamporte Funeral Home in Hamilton, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Campbell will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Greg Busboom officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton with a flag presentation by the Hamilton VFW.
Memorials have been established.

Daren Earsal Campbell, 80, of Hamilton, Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, in St. Francis Hospital in Peoria.
He was born May 6, 1923, in Majorville, Hancock County, a son of Thomas and Inez Burrow Campbell. He married Lelia Bernice Agnew. She died in March of 1992.
He is survived by one daughter, Linda B. (Robert "Bob") McCann of Richmond, Va.; one son, Randy Daren (Vicki) Campbell of Hamilton; four grandsons, Douglas Campbell, Misty Anderson, Mary C. (Mark) Deal, and Julie M. Frost; four great-grandchildren, Ashley, Heather, Alex and Maddie; two sisters, Okle Browning of LaHarpe and Era (Sissy) Long of Decatur; three brothers, Cleo Campbell of LaCrosse, Galen Campbell of Beloit, Wis., and Dee Campbell of Los Angeles, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gary Lee Campbell in 1975; one sister, Erice Mittermeyer; and two brothers, Bernard and Larry Campbell.
