News has just been received over the telephone of the death of Zack BurrusMr. Burrus was an old and highly esteemed citizen and our community has suffered a great loss in his death.  The bereaved family has the sympathy of the entire community in their sorrow.

DEATH OF ZACHRY BURRUS, MONDAY

Zachry Burrus was born on November 27, 1848, in Scotland County and died on July 6, 1914, aged 65 years, 7 months and 9 days.

He was married to Dora Chapman on July 26, 1874 -- the wife dying on February 4, 1904.  To them were born nine children -- five girls and four boys.  Mr. Burrus had eighteen grandchildren, also three brothers and three sisters living besides a host of friends and other relatives who mourn his death.

Deceased was a member of the Bible Grove I.O.O.F. lodge.  He united with the Christian Church at the Grove last October.  He was an honorable, upright and progressive citizen and was always ready to lend a helping hand.  He will be greatly missed in the community.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 7, at the Christian Church at the Grove, Rev. M. J. Nicoson officiating.

Interment was made in the church cemetery.
