GEO. S. BURNER
DIED SUNDAY

Former Harmony Citizen Pass-
ed Away In a Keokuk
Hospital.

George S. Burner, one of the best known citizens of Harmony township, died at St. Joseph's hospital, Keokuk, Sunday afternoon, about 4 o'clock, following a surgical operation.

George Sylvester Burner was born in Harmony township Nov. 18, 1848, and was the son of Isaac S. and J. A. (Lionberger) Burner.  He grew to manhood in the environment of his birth, and on Feb. 19, 1880, was married to Miss Sue A. Fletcher, who preceded him in death over twenty years ago.

To this union were born, Grace, Mrs. Arthur Powell, of near Denver; Mabel, Mrs. Earnest Grove, of Hamilton; Nellie, Mrs. Frank Perry, of near Bentley; and Frankie, Mrs. Lawrence Huey, of Chicago.  A son died in infancy.

Mr. Burner is also survived by his sisters, Mrs. A. W. O'Harra, of this city; Mrs. John Daily, of Denver; Mrs. Frances A. Harter, of Berne, Kans.; and Miss Olive Burner, now visiting in Virginia, and by several grandchildren.  Of his brothers and sisters, John W. Burner died July 26, 1875; Mary Ellen Perry died Dec. 11, 1890; Ambrose C. died June 24, 1916; and Mrs. Amanda Ramsey died Sept. 8, 1926.

Mr. Burner was a successful and prosperous farmer.  He retired from active farming a few years ago, and has since been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Grove, of Hamilton.

Mr. Burner was a kindly happy hearted man, thoughtful of his neighbors, never harming anyone by word or deed.  He lived a good and useful life and in his passing he is sincerely mourned by his devoted family and by his friends who held him in high esteem.

Brief services were held at Hamilton yesterday morning and the funeral was held at Bentley Baptist church yesterday at 1:30 o'clock, Elder Webb officiating.  Interment in Harmony cemetery.

George S. Burner, of Harmony township, died in St. Joseph hospital Feb. 5, following an operation, aged 80.  He was a successful farmer, retiring after the death of his wife 20 years ago.  Mrs. Burner was the former Sue Fletcher, their marriage taking place in 1880.  Their children were Mrs. Grace Powell, Mrs. Mabel Grove, Mrs. Nellie Perry.  A son died in infancy.  He was also survived by his sisters, Mrs. A. W. O'Harra, Mrs. John Dailey, Mrs. Frances Harter, and Miss Olive Burner.  Members of the family who preceded him in death were, John W., in 1857; Mary Perry, in 1890; Mrs. Amanda Ramsey, in 1926.
