Darrell Dean Burdette

Darrell Dean Burdette, Sr., 66, of 1908 William Street, died at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, in his home.

He was born April 26, 1923, in Ft. Madison, the son of Marvin H. and Vera Yowell Burdette.  He married Eva Lois Bryant on July 23, 1943, in Memphis, Mo.  She preceded him in death on July 5, 1987.  He had lived in Keokuk since 1939, and was employed by Midwest Carbide until four years ago.  He and his son, Dean, founded Burdette Machine Shop in 1970.  He was active in that business for 18 years.  He had also served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He was a member of New Testament Christian Church.

Survivors include his sons Darrell Dean Burdette, Jr. and Steven Michael Burdette, both of Keokuk, David Duane Burdette of Virginia Beach, Va. and Brian1 Burdette of Burlington; daughters Rose Marie Woodard and Mary Ann Mahair, both of Keokuk; 10 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, two great-granchildren; and brothers Ralph Burdette of Kahoka and Gene Burdette of Virginia Beach, Va.

He was also preceded in death by a son and a grandchild.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at DeJong's Funeral Home with the Brother Bill Hauser officiating.

Burial, with military rites, will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery, north of Keokuk.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Saturday at DeJong's Funeral Home and the family will meet with friends from 7-9 p.m.

Darrell D. Burdette Sr.

KEOKUK, Iowa -- Darrell Dean Burdette Sr., 66, of Keokuk died at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 24, 1990) in his home.

Mr. Burdette was born April 26, 1923, in Fort Madison, a son of Marvin H. and Vera Yowell Burdette.  He married Eva Lois Bryant July 23, 1943, in Memphis, Mo.  She died July 5, 1987.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the DeJong Funeral Home in Keokuk by Brother Bill Hauser.  Burial, with military rites, will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery north of Keokuk.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Saturday with family meeting friends from 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home.
