Virginia "Maxine" Bryant, 70, Keokuk, died at 4:32 p.m. Friday, April 30 at University Hospital, Iowa City.
She was born May 19, 1922, in Clark County, Mo., to Elvin and Anna Goldie Steeples Hackard.
She was married Aug. 6, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo., to Ward Bryant. He survives.
Survivors also include: two daughters, Mrs. Sam (Anna Rose) Hackett of Bartonville, Ill., and Mrs. Steven (Marsha) Hayes of Fort Madison; a son, Roger Bryant of Keokuk; a brother, Wayne Bryant of Keokuk; a sister, Alberta Brammer of Keokuk; and six grandchildren.
Mrs. Bryant was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
She lived in Clark County from 1943 to 1964, Fort Madison from 1964 to 1982, and Keokuk since 1982.
Mrs. Bryant was employed by Fort Madison Laundromat and Fort Madison Nursing Care Center.
She attended New Testament Christian Church.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at DeJong's Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Hauser officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
Visitation is today at DeJong's Funeral Home with family meeting friends 7-9 tonight.
A memorial is established with American Cancer Society.
