Madeline Mercedes 'Stormy' Bryant

ALEXANDRIA, Mo. -- Madeline Mercedes "Stormy" Bryant, 82, of Alexandria, Mo., died at 11:32 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, in Keokuk Area Hospital.

She was born on Jan. 3, 1926, in Keokuk, the daughter of Cletus and Mary Ackley Bir.

She married Wallace E. Bryant on Nov. 16, 1953, in the Old Capital Building, Iowa City.  He preceded her in death on April 24, 2002.

She had lived in Alexandria for 49 years.

She was of the Catholic faith and had attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Keokuk.

She enjoyed crocheting, yard sales and visiting with friends and neighbors.

Survivors include: a son, Wallace E. Bryant Jr., of Alexandria; a daughter, Connie Bonser and her husband, Dwayne, of Keokuk; a granddaughter, Tricia Cannon of Keokuk; a grandson, Jake Fox of Alexandria; a stepson, Rodney Bryant of Keokuk; a sister, Ruth Morris, of Pensacola, Fla.; a brother, Carl Bir and his wife, Loretta, of Fairfield, Calif.; two nephews, Zed Morris of Pensacola and Jim Roy; and three nieces, Sandra Palmer and Karen Richards, both of Pensacola, and Rita Roy of Greenville, N.C.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Egley, and a sister, Zita Roy.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Frazee Cemetery, rural Wayland, Mo., with the Rev. Paul Hartley officiating.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. for the cemetery.  Burial will follow.

Visitation is after 2 p.m. today at DeJong's Funeral Home, Keokuk, with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
