Lee1 Vernon Bryant of 2018 Missouri, died at 5:45 a.m. yesterday in the Park Manor nursing home, Burlington. He had been seriously ill for the past two months.
Born November 18, 1885 in Scotland county, Mo., Mr. Bryant was the son of James R. and Paulina Thurber Bryant. He was a resident of Lee county for more than 58 years.
Mr. Bryant retired from the Keokuk Canning Company in 1952, where he had worked for more than 38 years.
In June, 1909, he married, Rose Elizabeth Dalton, who preceded him in death in 1951. In 1952, he married Kathryn Inman, who preceded him in death in July, 1963.
He is survived by six children: Mrs. Carl (Freda) Rose, Louisville, Ky.; Mrs. Lester (Mary) Jump, Keokuk; Mrs. Floyd (Helen) Howard, Montrose: Mrs. Darrell (Eva) Burdette, Keokuk; Mrs. James (Verna) Griffin, Alexandria; and Ward Bryant, Fort Madison.
He is also survived by two step children, Leonard Inman, Keokuk; and Mrs. Agnes Riley, Morton, Ill.; 19 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, one sister, three sons, one daughter, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday from DeJong Funeral Home. The Rev. Dale E. Oliver will officiate. Burial will be at the Hickory Grove cemetery.
