Ella J. Bryant

ALEXANDRIA, Mo. -- Ella J. Bryant, 90, of Alexandria, Mo., died at 9:05 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2001, at River Hills Village in Keokuk.

She was born on Sept. 23, 1910, in Keokuk, the daughter of Thomas J. and Daisy L. Bunch Haggerty.  She married William Bryant on Sept. 17, 1938, in Ottumwa.  He preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1997.

Survivors include: three children, Nancy Bailey and her husband, J. C., of Eureka Springs, Ark., David Bryant of Alexandria and Anne Schock and her husband, Murry, of Kahoka, Mo.; three grandchildren, David Bailey, Jennifer Schock and Bill Bryant; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by eight sisters, Edith Fackler, Daisy Haggerty, Hazel Grant, May Moriarty, Rose Haggerty, Alyce Fresheim, Marjorie Halterman and Wilma McMechan; and a grandson.

She had lived in the Alexandria-Keokuk area her entire life.

She was a homemaker and in her earlier years worked at the telephone company.

Mrs. Bryant was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Kahoka Chapter #40; the Friendly Neighbors Extension Club of Clark County; and the Royal Neighbors.

She was the last of nine sisters.

Mrs. Bryant was a member of the Alexandria Presbyterian Church and for many years was the secretary of the Alexandria Presbyterian Ladies.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Alexandria Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, with Dr. David Castrodale officiating.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Keokuk, following the church service.

Visitation is after 3 p.m. today with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk.
