LUTHER BROWNING

June 30, 1913 -- Nov. 15, 1994

Luther F. Browning, 81, of LaHarpe, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, at his home.

He was born June 30, 1913, in Blandinsville, the son of George and Ethel VanArsdale Browning.  He married Okle M. Campbell June 25, 1938, in Ottumwa, Iowa.  She survives.

He is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. William (Elizabeth) Olson of LaHarpe; a son, Leon Browning of rural LaHarpe; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, John Browning of Dane, Wis.; and a sister, Helen Stech of Atchison, Kan.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Carol Boone and Beverly Jean Browning in infancy; two sisters, Velma Moore and Eunice Browning; and his parents.

Mr. Browning had farmed near LaHarpe most of his life until moving to town in 1977.  He then worked for the City of LaHarpe for several years.  He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the LaHarpe United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 18, at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Revs. Jon Sims and Larry VanGundy officiating.  Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Thursday where the family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

A memorial has been established for the LaHarpe United Methodist Church
