Ruben E. Brown

Funeral services for Reuben E. Brown, 86, of Carthage were held Sunday, Sept. 3, at 2 p.m. in the Fecht Funeral Home in Carthage, the Rev. Franklin Woods officiating.  Mrs. Kenneth Cutler was the organist.  Casket bearers were Ronnie Dulaney, Dale Dulaney, Robert Brown, Jimmie Brown, Leo Lemley and Joe Brown.  Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery.

Mr. Brown died Friday, Sept. 1, in Graham hospital in Keokuk, Iowa.

Born in Hancock township June 21, 1875, he was a son of Josephus and Sarah Vincent Brown.  He was married Nov. 27, 1911 in Keokuk to Nola Ruddell, who survives.

He was a retired farmer.

Surviving with the widow are five daughters, Mrs. Delena Lemley of Jacksonville, Mrs. Geneva Dulaney of Hamilton, Mrs. Irma Locher of Colfax, Mrs. Sarah J. Davis of Altamont, and Miss Freda Brown of Carthage; three sons, Milerd of Carthage, Ira of Basco and Ruben Edward of Midwest City, Okla.; 29 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and an infant son, Gilbert Roy.
