Mrs. Lelah Chloe Briggs, 71, 2900 S. 7th St. died unexpectedly at 5:30 a.m. this morning.

Mrs. Chloe Briggs, 2900 So. 7th St., died at the Keokuk Area Hospital East, at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Briggs was born on September 30, 1905 at Greensburg, Mo., the daughter of Walter J. and Ethel L. Converse Bryant. She has lived in Keokuk most of her life. She married William H. Briggs, Sr. on September 23, 1936 in Edina, Mo. She was a member of the First Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband, three sons, William Henry Briggs, Jr. of Keokuk, Robert Allen Briggs of Keokuk, Horras Carroll Carlton of Keokuk, two daughters, Mrs. James (Rose Ann) Smith of Keokuk, Mrs. Donald (Lucille) Carlson of Keokuk, two brothers, Alfred Bryant of Montrose, Riley Bryant of Keokuk, 21 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, a sister, two sons, a daughter and a grandchild.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the DeJong Funeral Home with Rev. R. Terry Halstead officiating. Interment will be in the Sand Cemetery, St. Francisville, Mo.
