Mary Brandon

Funeral services for Mrs. Royal (Mary) Brandon, 88, Princeton, formerly of Hancock County, were held Dec. 22 in Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton and at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 23 in the Fecht Funeral Home in Carthage with the Rev. William Tammen of the Princeton Presbyterian Church officiating.  Burial was in McConnell Cemetery near Fountain Green.

Mrs. Brandon died Monday, Dec. 21, 1970, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. R. Huey in Princeton.

She was born Jan. 24, 1882, in Fountain Green, a daughter of James and Anna Kelly Miller.  She married Royal Brandon June 1, 1905, in Fountain Green.  He died in 1913.  She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Order of the Eastern Star in Carthage more than 50 years and had taught school in Fountain Green and Carthage more than 30 years, retiring in 1939.  She moved from Carthage to Princeton in 1951.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Glenn (Genevieve) Jones and Mrs. J. R. (Geraldine) Huey, Princeton; one brother, Thomas Miller of Galesburg; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Royal, one brother, Leland; one sister, Jennie; and one grandson.
