OF MACOMB DIESJ. Clyde Boyd, 83, of Macomb died at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 1975 at McDonough District hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8 at the Clugston Chapel in Macomb with the Rev. Charles Wilder officiating. Masonic rites were conducted during the services by the Macomb Lodge. Burial was in St. Marys cemetery.
Mr. Boyd was born on Jan. 14, 1891, in Roanoke, Va., a son of Thomas Calloway and Martha Lester Boyd. He married Elva Mae Polite on Aug. 31, 1911. She is deceased. He had resided in Burnside and Plymouth before moving to Macomb in 1917. He then moved to Galesburg in 1943, returning to Macomb in 1962. Mr. Boyd farmed for several years before working as a tool and dye maker at Porcelain, Globe, and Hemps. He also worked at Gale Products in Galesburg for 20 years.
Mr. Boyd was a member of the Galesburg Baptist Church and he attended the Grace Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Macomb Masonic Lodge, Order of Eastern Star, and the Consistory in Moline.
Mr. Boyd is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Roland (Velma) Smith of Macomb; three grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, the Rev. D. L. "Roy" Boyd and Lee Boyd, and one sister, Mrs. Ethel Hess, and a son Verl Boyd.
