Funeral services for the Rev. John M. Botkins, a resident of Denver for 35 years and formerly postmaster there, were held Sunday in First Christian church at Denver. The Rev. Harold Norman and Dr. Russell H. Grow officiated.
Burial was in Harmony Township cemetery.
Mr. Botkin formerly served the Christian churches at Mt. Pleasant and Bowen and engaged also in farming. He died unexpectedly Thursday while assisting in some work at the West Point church.
A veteran of World War I, Mr. Botkin was a member of the Hancock county barracks.
He was born in High Knob, Ky., Jan. 13, 1895, a son of John Wesley and Mary Gabbard Botkin, and was married to Lydia Vance of Carthage Feb. 4, 1920.
Surviving are the widow; two sons, Leroy of LaGrange, and Wayne of Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Mrs. Henry (Mary Elizabeth) Johnson of Leland, and three sisters, Mrs. Etta DenHam of Los Angeles and Mrs. Kate Mabry and Mrs. Susie Walton of Denver. Ten grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Botkin was a member of the Assembly of God church at West Point.
Pallbearers were Glen Vance, Sherman Vance, Dick Vance, Joe Wesley Sowder, Arnold Mabry and Gerald Walton.
Neiser Funeral Home, Carthage, had charge of the arrangements.
