FOR MRS. NELLIE
BOSTON MONDAYNellie Blanche Burner, daughter of the late George S. and Martha Susan Burner, was born February 6, 1887, in Harmony township, Hancock county, Illinois, and passed away January 22, 1943, at 10:50 o'clock at the Marietta Phelps hospital, Macomb, Ill., after prolonged suffering, at the age of 55 years, 11 months and 16 days.
She derived her education in the Bentley school and October 16, 1907, was married to Frank Perry, who passed away September 10, 1926.
She was married to Sylvester Boston on May 22, 1934, in Keokuk, Iowa, and to this happy union a daughter Ruth Eloise was born. Besides the devoted husband and daughter, she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Mable Grove of Bowen, Illinois, and Mrs. Frankie Huey of Oak Park, Ill. Two brothers passed away in infancy and one sister, Mrs. Grace Powell of Bowen, May 25, 1942. She also leaves a number of nieces and nephews to mourn her passing.
Mrs. Boston united with the Bentley Methodist Church at an early age, being a faithful and loyal member of this church till her death. She always took an active part in all the interests of the church and Sunday school until sickness prevented.
She was also a member of the Home Bureau and Domestic Science Club, in which she was a faithful member, taking much interest and delight in the work. Her greatest pleasure was her home, whose doors were always open to her hosts of many friends.
Mrs. Boston was for many years the Republican's faithful correspondent from Independence, her letters always friendly and much appreciated.
The Boston family have resided on their farm east of Bentley since their marriage. She has been a faithful wife, a kind friend and good neighbor. Her going to her eternal rest is her gain and our great loss. She will be remembered by all who knew her and loved her. She died knowing her intense suffering would be over, eternal life of a heavenly home would be hers.
Her good husband, daughter, neighbors and friends labored tirelessly for her comfort, but no one knew better than Nell herself, how hopelessly they labored. All that these loving hands and medical skill could do was done to relieve her suffering, which she bore bravely, knowing that in the end she would meet her loving Saviour and be at rest in the arms of Jesus.
Funeral services for Mrs. Boston were held Monday, Jan. 25, at 2:00 o'clock p. m. at the Bentley Methodist church, the Rev. Charles Kinrade officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Will Scott, Harry Faulkner and Mrs. Edith Hoover sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "Old Rugged Cross", Mrs. Edith Faulkner accompanying. Interment was in Harmony cemetery. Pallbearers were: Willie McPherson, Ben McPherson, Harry Wells, Walter Delozier, Lyle Livingston, and Noble Cox.
