Funeral services for Millard Edward Blackledge, 82, of Fountain Green, were held Friday, July 9, at 2 p.m. in the Banks Funeral Home in LaHarpe, the Rev. Leo Gossett officiating. Burial was in the McConnell cemetery in Fountain Green.
Mr. Blackledge died Wednesday morning, July 4, in Mary Davier hospital in LaHarpe. He had been taken there earlier that morning from the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Schell, with whom he made his home.
Born in Sunbury, Ohio Sept. 6, 1879, he was a son of Hiram and Mary Lott Blackledge. He had lived in Fountain Green for 63 years. He was married to Lena Geddes in Fountain Green Feb. 22, 1906. She died in 1922.
Surviving are three children, Mrs. Shell (Leta), Mrs. Harold Meyers (Helen) of Tennessee, and Glen Blackledge of Hamilton; two sisters, Mrs. Gilbert Adams of Leonardsburg, Ohio, and Mrs. Lela Tennant of Johnstown, Ohio; one brother, Othie Blackledge of Newark, Ohio; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Four brothers are deceased.
