Columns 1 & 2Emma Mitchell was born in Hancock County, Illinois, Feb. 14, 1860, and answered the summons of the death angel Jan. 12, 1923. She was stricken with paralysis some two months ago and seemed to rally slowly for a time, but care and skill were of no avail and she passed on after intense suffering. She was united in marriage to William Berry April 10, 1882, and to this union were born two daughters, who survive: Mrs. Minnie Jackson, of Tennessee, Ill., and Mrs. Myrtle Beadle, of Plymouth, Ill. In an early day Mr. Berry purchased a farm near the Oak Grove church and here they spent their entire married life. About five years ago Mr. Berry passed away. Mrs. Berry united with the Christian church at Oak Grove some thirty years ago did her full share of the work attached to the home church. Besides the two daughters mentioned there is left to mourn her passing one sister, Mrs. Joetta Cludray, eight grand-children and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Oak Grove church at 2:00 o'clock by R. B. Fouts, pastor of the Carthage Christian church and burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.
