Julius Chellis Berg, 81, of Carthage, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at his home.
He was born Aug. 2, 1924, in Basco, a son of Herman and Tena Fecht Berg. On Oct. 20, 1944, he married Myra Jean Launer at Immanuel Lutheran Church, south of Carthage. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2004.
He is survived by his wife, Jean of rural Carthage; three children, Judith Ann (Phillip) Garkie of LaGrange, Mo., Myron Lee (Ann) Berg of Basco and Glenna Marie (Paul) Cade of Rice Lake, Wis.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Haletta (Fred) Folkerts of rural Carthage and Clarine Hurt of Basco.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Alberta Krieg; two brothers-in-law, Ernie Krieg and Don Hurt.
He was a lifelong farmer and was also a Pioneer Hybrid Seed dealer for 14 years. He was a Massey-Harris Implement dealer from 1955 until 1965. He was a well read, self-educated man who actively kept up on the news around him. He collected Massey-Harris toy tractors and restored antique tractors and was a member of the Reed Organ Society. He was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church in Warsaw.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 19, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, south of Carthage. Burial followed in the South Cemetery in Basco.
Memorials may be made to Parkinson's Research, Blessing Hospice of Hancock County, or the University of Wisconsin Stem Cell Research Center.
