Mrs. Lula Belknap

Funeral services for Lulu Belknap of Carthage, were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday, Aug. 23 at the Fecht Funeral Home in Carthage.  The Rev. D. E. Skiles was in charge of the service and burial was in Moss Ridge cemeteryMrs. Kenneth Cutler was the organist and she also sang, "The Old Rugged Cross."  Pall bearers were Wendell Walker, Arthur Haffey, Merlin Gibson, William Hayes, Bryan Hardy and Alfred Wear.

Mrs. Belknap died Saturday, Aug. 20, in Graham Hospital in Keokuk, Iowa.

Born in Carthage, Sept. 14, 1899, she was the daughter of Jesse and Bertha Newman Gillenwater.  On Sept. 16, 1915 she was married to Fred Belknap.

Surviving besides her husband are Mrs. Glen (Alletia) Hale, of Carthage; Mrs. Albert (Eleanore) Whiteside, Keokuk, Iowa; Mrs. Mildred McHugh, Carthage; Mrs. Ralph (Erma Lee) Inman, Stanton, Texas; Mrs. Kenneth (Ruth) Howell, Keokuk, Iowa; Mrs. Robert (Rosa Lee) Hoing, Rock Island; Mrs. Howard (Dorothy) Bundy, Rock Island; Mrs. Ronald (Evelyn) Brown, Moline; Mrs. Pete (Betty) Castelli, Wheaton; Frank and Willis both of Carthage and Jesse, of Reynolds.  One sister, Hazel Agnew, also survives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three daughters and one son.
