<mailto:tootsjlh@interl.net?subject=Virgil Ray Beaty>Virgil Ray Beaty, of R. R. #2 a veteran of Word War II, died at 4:10 o'clock this morning in St. Joseph hospital where he had been a patient for the last 10 days.
Thirty-three years old, he was born November 29, 1913, in Montrose, the son of Howard and Emma Johnson Beaty, and spent his life in Lee County.
Before entering service he had been employed at the Midwest Carbide Corp., but had been farming since his discharge.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and of the American Legion.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Beaty of Keokuk; five brothers, Robert and Ernest, of Griswold, Iowa; Gilbert, Everett, Roy and Andrew, of Keokuk; a sister, Mrs. Edward Glasgow, of Hamilton, Illinois, and uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Schmidt Memorial home with burial in the National cemetery where American Legion services will be held at the grave.
