Everett Johnson Beaty

Everett Johnson Beaty, 922 Palean Street, Keokuk, died Saturday morning, August 21, at 9:05 a.m. in St. Joseph Hospital.  He had been ill since June 2.

Born August 1, 1915 in Argyle, Iowa, Mr. Beaty was the son of Howard L. and Emma Johnson Beaty.  He had been a machinist for thirty years for Beaty Machine Works, Inc. in Keokuk.  He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

On June 18, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri he was married to Bessie Malloy, who survives him.  In addition, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ed (Edna) Glasgow of Keokuk and five brothers, Andrew of Iowa; Roy of Keokuk; and Oakland, Iowa; Ernest of Carson, Iowa; Robert of Hancock, Gilbert of Boise, Idaho.  Also eight step-children: Mrs. Alan (Norma) Carr, San Francisco; Mrs. E. D. (Dorothy) Trone, Warsaw, Illinois; Mrs. Earl (Ada) Kay, Springfield, Illinois; Mrs. John (Dolores) Speake, Keokuk; Eudora Gaibel, Davenport, Iowa; Thomas Malloy, Phoenix; John Malloy, Knoxville, Iowa; and Elmer Malloy, Ely, Iowa.  He also has a number of step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Virgil, and two step-children.

Services will be Tuesday, August 24, at 2 p.m. at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk, with the Rev. John Varner in charge.  Burial will be in the Charleston Cemetery at Charleston, Iowa.

The Eagles will conduct a memorial service at DeJong's on August 23 at 7:30 p.m.
