VINCENT L. ALLISON

June 24, 1912 -- Oct. 31, 2003

Vincent L. Allison, 91, of Hamilton, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

He was born June 24, 1912, in Medicine Lake, Mont., a son of Caleb and Mamie Raither Allison.  He married Geraldine Porter.  She died in 1955.  He then married Florence Richardson on March 28, 1959 in Bowen.

He is survived by his wife, Florence of Quincy; two sons, Gerald (Judy) Allison of Carthage and Dewayne Allison of Burlington, Iowa; one sister, Fern Wier of Macomb; one brother, Vernon (Eileen) Allison of Plymouth; five grandchildren, Dan (Gina) Allison, Peggy (Jon) Hart, Angie (Neil) Bormann, Julie (Mark) Schmudlach, Amy (Ryan) Bergmann; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine; three sisters; two brothers; and one daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Allison.

He was a carpenter and was employed by R.L. Patton and Best Construction both of the Keokuk area.  He was a 50-year member of the Carpenters Local-41.  He was baptized April 10, 1960, in the United Methodist Church in Basco.  He was a WWII veteran and served with the Army in the European theater.  He was presented with a purple heart and two bronze battle stars.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 3, at Lamporte Funeral Home of Carthage.  Rev. John Heikes officiated.  Burial followed in the Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage.  A flag was presented by the V.F.W. of Carthage.

Memorials may be made to the Quincy Veterans Home.
