FLORENCE ALLISON

died June 24, 2005

Florence Allison, 91, of Quincy, formally of Hamilton, died Friday, June 24, 2005, at the Sunset Home in Quincy.

She was born on Nov. 25, 1913, in Basco, the daughter of John Jeffrey and Lessie B. Scott Richardson.  She married Vincent L. Allison on March 28, 1959, in Bowen.  He died Oct. 31, 2003.

She is survived by two step-sons, Gerald (Judy) Allison of Carthage and Dewayne Allison of Burlington, Iowa; five step-grandchildren, Dan (Gina) Allison, Peggy (Jon) Hart, Angie (Neil) Bormann, Julie (Mark) Schmudlach and Amy (Ryan) Bergmann; 14 step-great-grandchildren and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

She was a former school teacher, who graduated from Carthage High School and Carthage College in 1948.  For 25 years, she taught at various public schools in Illinois, including Park Ridge and Quincy.  She was a member of the Hamilton United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star Pocahontas Chapter #49, the Illinois Education Association and the National Retired Teachers Association.

Graveside services were held today, Wednesday, June 29, at South Cemetery in BascoRev. Mark Horn officiated.

Memorials in memory of Florence R. Allison may be made to Hamilton United Methodist Church or the Hearts of Hancock Humane Society.
