DEATH OF A PIONEER CITIZEN
William Aleshire, highly respected pioneer citizen of Burnside, died Oct. 3d inst., after three weeks of illness. His age was 76 years lacking 16 days. He was married to Sarah Ewing Dec. 31, 1837, in Ohio; moved to Fulton county, Ill., 1842, and to Hancock county 1847. He has been a resident of Pilot Grove about 43 years. His faithful wife who had shared his joys and sorrows for over 50 years, died July 17, 1890, since which time his health has been on the decline, and for the past three weeks rapidly sinking away with very little apparent pain. He was the father of 10 children, 6 of whom the following are living, E. E., a lawyer, of Stansberry, Mo., Jasper, of Good Hope, Ill., Oscar E., of Chicago, Mrs. Thomas Swan, of Luray, Mo., Mrs. U. H. Ashcraft and Albert, of Burnside. He has made his home with the latter since the death of his wife. All of the children were at the funeral except Oscar E., of Chicago. The funeral services were held at the M. E. Church Saturday, conducted by Rev. Bowling.

Mr. G. W. Ewing and Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Cravens, of Middle Creek, attended the funeral of their brother-in-law, William Aleshire. ------ Guy Oaks.
