Dies In Her Son's
Home WednesdayFuneral services for Mrs. Opal Pearl Akers, 60, will be held Friday afternoon at 2 in the Bowen Christian church.
The Rev. Ronald Richardson will officiate with burial in the Harmony cemetery near Bentley, Ill. Music by Mrs. Virginia Strickler and Mrs. Luella Morton. Mrs. Akers died Wednesday morning, April 18th at two a. m. at Hayward, Ill. in the home of her son, James, who recently underwent brain surgery and is at present a patient in Memorial hospital at Springfield, in a critical condition.
Mrs. Akers was a native of Woodvine, Iowa, the daughter of James and Ida Johnson Smith. She was a member of the Christian church. In August 6, 1919 she was married to Ervin T. Akers in the Christian church at Carthage. Mr. Akers died in 1951.
Surviving with the son James, are four daughters, Mrs. Marjory Cramer of Bowen, Mrs. Mildred Quivey of Paxton, Ill., Mrs. Jean Ramsey of Bowen and Mrs. Dorothy Lummis of Fowler; two sisters, Mrs. Gale Long of Carthage and Mrs. Floyd Champlin of St. Louis; two brothers, Dale and Blake Smith of Roseville, Ill., and nine grandchildren. The pallbearers were nephews.

In Her Son's HomeBowen, Ill., April 19. -- Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Pearl Akers, 60, will be held Friday afternoon at 2 in the Bowen Christian church. The Rev. Ronald Richardson will officiate and burial will be in the Harmony cemetery at Bentley. She died Wednesday morning at 2 at Hayward in the home of her son, James, who recently underwent brain surgery and is presently a patient in Memorial hospital at Springfield in critical condition.
Mrs. Akers was a native of Woodvine, Ia., the daughter of James and Ida Johnson Smith. She was a member of the Bentley Christian church. In 1919 at Carthage, she was married to Ervin T. Akers, who died in 1951.

For Mrs. Akers Held
In Bowen FridayFuneral services for Mrs. Opal Pearl Akers, 60, of Bowen, were held Friday, April 20, at 2 p.m. in the Bowen Christian church, the Rev. Roland Richardson officiating. Pallbearers were Dale Veach, Leroy Veach, Carl Veach, William Vance, Jr., Sherman Vance and Gordon Akers. Music was furnished by Mrs. J. G. Strickler and Mrs. Carlin Morton. Burial was in Harmony cemetery near Bentley.
She died suddenly in Hayward at the home of her son, James, who recently underwent surgery in Springfield Memorial hospital and remains in critical condition.
Mrs. Akers was born in Woodbine, Iowa, June 10, 1895, the daughter of James G. and Ida Johnson Smith. On Aug. 6, 1919, she married Ervin T. Akers, who died in 1951. She was a member of the Bowen Christian church.
Surviving with the son, James, are four daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Cramer of Bowen, Mrs. Mildred Quivey of Paxton, Mrs. Jean Ramsey of Bowen and Mrs. Dorothy Lummis of Fowler; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Long of Carthage, Mrs. Lucille Champlin of St. Louis, two brothers, Gayl and Blake Smith of Roseville, and nine grandchildren. One grandchild preceded her in death. Also surviving are an aunt, Mrs. Florence Mitchell, of Grand Island and an uncle, Court Smith, of Bentley.
