Denver, Ill., DiesMrs. Lelia Akers, 78, of Denver, this county, mother of Mrs. Opal Golden of Nauvoo, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 1956, at 2:45 p.m., in the Jacobs nursing home at Camp Point.
Lelia Alice, daughter of Enoch and Susan Phillips, was born on September 8, 1877, at Indian Valley, Va., and passed away August 29, 1956. She had been in failing health for a number of years.
On Sept. 20, 1893, she was married to Albert Akers, who passed away Sept. 13, 1915. She was also preceded in death by two daughters -- Effie, who died in 1912, and Grace, in 1933; also her parents, three brothers and one sister.
She was a member of the Providence Primitive Baptist church, and attended until her health failed.
Surviving are the following children: Opal Golden, Nauvoo, Ill.; Clara Dulaney, San Bernardino, Calif.; Guy Akers, Jacksonville, Ill.; Leora Duffy, Bowen, Ill.; Isabel Huffman, Galesburg, Ill., and Kenneth Akers, Chicago. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock in the Denver Christian church, with Elder C. E. Webb officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Shirley McMahan, Mrs. L. B. Sutherland and Mrs. Howard Worrell. Interment was in Harmony cemetery. Casket bearers were Griffie Gardner, Raymond Webb, Charles Husted, Otis Husted, James Fleming and Fred Alberts.

Mrs. Lelia Akers
Held in DenverFuneral services for Mrs. Lelia Akers were held Saturday, Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. in the Denver Christian church, Elder C. E. Webb officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Shirley McMahan, Mrs. L. B. Sutherland and Mrs. Howard Worrell. Casket bearers were Griffie Gardner, Raymond Webb, Charles Rusted, Otis Husted, James Fleming and Fred Alberts. Burial was in Harmony cemetery. Mrs. Akers died Wednesday, Aug. 29, following several years of ill health.
Born Sept. 8, 1877, at Indian Valley, Va., she was the daughter of Enoch and Susan Phillips. She was married to Albert L. Akers Sept. 20, 1893. He died Sept. 13, 1915. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Effie, who died in 1912, and Grace, who died in 1933.
