FLORENCE AKERS

June 20, 1919 -- April 4, 1992

B. Florence Akers, 72, a homemaker, died Saturday April 4, in McDonough District Hospital, Macomb.

She was born June 20, 1919, in McDonough County, the daughter of Herman and Herma Stoneking Vogler.  She married Adron Akers on Feb. 11, 1937.  He died Feb. 26, 1991.

She had attended rural McDonough County schools and was a homemaker.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Plymouth.

Survivors include three sons, Calvin of East Moline, Gary of Carmi, and Eldon of Littleton; three daughters, Mrs. Duane (Joyia) Hoyt and Mrs. Keith (Bonnie) Mayall, both of Plymouth, and Mrs. Dale (Rachel) Thomas of Lomax; three brothers, Jesse Vogler of Michigan City, Ind., Richard Vogler of Plymouth, and Glen Vogler of Blandinsville; a half-sister, Peggy Rodeffer; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister in infancy.

Services were held Tuesday in the Hamilton Funeral Home in Plymouth, the Rev. Henry Nash officiating.  Burial was in the Forest Lawn Memory Garden, Macomb.

Memorials may be made to the Augusta Senior Citizens Center.

PLYMOUTH, Ill. -- B. Florence Akers, 72, a homemaker, died at 4:49 a.m. Saturday (April 4, 1992) in McDonough District Hospital, Macomb.

Born June 20, 1919, in McDonough County, Mrs. Akers was a daughter of Herman and Herma Stoneking Vogler.  She married Adron O. Akers Feb. 11, 1937, in Macomb.  He died Feb. 26, 1991.

Mrs. Akers had attended rural McDonough County schools and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Plymouth.

Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Monday.
