ADRON AKERS

March 11, 1915 -- Feb. 26, 1991

Adron O. Akers, 75, of Plymouth died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 1991, in his home.

He was born March 11, 1915, in Floyd County, Va., the son of S. T. and Mettie Simmons Akers.  He married Florence Vogler Feb. 11, 1937, in Macomb.

He was a farmer, retiring in 1980, and also worked for Colchester Stone Co. for the past 20 years.  He attended the First Baptist Church of Plymouth.

Survivors include his wife; mother; three sons, Calvin of Moline, Gary of Carmi and Eldon of Littleton; three daughters, Mrs. Joyia Hoyt and Mrs. Bonnie Mayall, both of Plymouth, and Mrs. Rachel Thomas of Lomax; four brothers, Eldon of Colmar, George and Loren, both of Plymouth, and Jim of Carthage; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister.

Services were held Friday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Plymouth with the Rev. Henry Nash officiating.  Burial was in the Forest Lawn Memory Gardens west of Macomb.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Adron O. Akers

PLYMOUTH, Ill. -- Adron O. Akers, 75, of Plymouth, a retired farmer, died at 7:55 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 26, 1991) in his home.

Born March 11, 1915, in Floyd County, Va., Mr. Akers was a son of S. T. and Mettie Simmons Akers.  He also was employed for 20 years by Colchester Stone Co., and retired from farming in 1980.  Mr. Akers attended First Baptist Church.

On Feb. 11, 1937, he married Florence Vogler in Macomb.  She survives.

Survivors also include his mother of Plymouth; three sons, Calvin of Moline, Gary of Carmi and Eldon of Littleton; three daughters, Mrs. Duane (Joyia) Hoyt and Mrs. Keith (Bonnie) Mayall, both of Plymouth, and Mrs. Dale (Rachel) Thomas of Lomax; four brothers, Eldon of Colmar, George and Loren, both of Plymouth, and Jim of Carthage; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Avery Allen.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in the Hamilton Funeral Home in Plymouth by the Rev. Henry Nash.  Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb.

Visitation will be held after noon Thursday, with family meeting friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
