Column 4Miss Nona Agnew, 17, passed away at St. Joseph hospital at Keokuk, Iowa, Friday at 2:00 a. m. after a short illness. Although she had not been in good health for a year, her death occurred a week after entering the hospital.
She was the daughter of Hie Agnew of Keokuk and Mrs. Hazel Gillenwater Agnew of Carthage and was born in Carthage May 15, 1928. She was employed at the Tri-State Produce Company here where she had many friends.
She graduated from grade school at Hamilton, Ill. in 1943 and entered high school the following fall, remaining only for a short time due to illness. Besides her parents is a small daughter, Gloria Janice, who will be a year old the 12 of this month, and six sisters and three brothers, Arnold Agnew of Hamilton, Huberta Hood of Moline, Bernice Richardson and Wilma McHugh, both of Carthage, Ozie Clay, Amos Taney, Olva Ruth, Martha Hazel, Marjorie Darlene at home with their mother; also many relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Elms funeral home here at 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning, Rev. J. E. Caudill of the Christian church officiating. Burial was at the Oakland cemetery at Warsaw, Ill. Pallbearers were fellow workers of the Tri-State Produce Company.
