Karen Sue Agnew

HAMILTON, Ill. -- Karen Sue Agnew, 57, a longtime resident of Hamilton, Ill., died at 10:53 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2002, in the Montebello Health Care Center in Hamilton.

She was born on May 6, 1945, in Keokuk, the daughter of August Arnold and Louise Marie Cook Agnew.

Survivors include: four sisters, Rosalie Bruns and her husband, Raymond, of Hamilton, Ala., Patricia Parish and her husband, Leslie, of Murray, Ky., Jean Richardson and her husband, James and Betty Hymes and her husband, John, all of Hamilton; five brothers, LeRoy Agnew and his wife, Sherry, Jack Agnew and his wife, Pam, and Kenneth Agnew and his wife, Tina, all of Hamilton, Ray Agnew of Curryville, Mo., and Robert McVeigh and his wife, Sherry, of Carthage, Ill.; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Robert L. McVeigh; a brother, Philip Agnew; a nephew, Edward Agnew; a great-niece, Jasmine Agnew; and a great-nephew, Nathaniel Gorham.

She attended grade school in Hamilton and for a longtime was a client at the Hancock County Mental Health Center in Carthage.

Mrs. Agnew was very much loved by the staff and employees of Montebello Manor Health Care Center, where she has lived for the last 27 years.

To her, this was home and her extended family.

Her smile and laughter was a joy to her family, who loved her deeply.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lamporte Funeral Home in Hamilton.

Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Hamilton.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home, with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorials in her name may be made to the Hancock County Mental Health Center in Carthage.
