A report of the 50th anniversary festivities was published in the Maplewood South Orange News Record on 20 Jun 1954
GOLDEN WEDDING
The four sons of the Alexander Seidlers of 24 Fairview avenue, South Orange, entertained them at a wonderful 50th wedding anniversary party Sunday afternoon.
The wives of the party givers also had a hand in planning the affair, which was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Seidler, Jr. at 245 Turrell avenue, South Orange, and was attended by 60 friends and relatives. The other hosts were Mr. and Mrs. John Seidler of Fair Lawn, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Seidler of 19 Highland Place, Maplewood, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Seidler of Shrewsbury. There was a big beautiful weddingcake and champagne punch on the refreshment table and several of the couple's 12 grandchildren helped with the serving.
The Seidlers, who have lived in the village for almost 50 years, were married in a home on Fairview avenue, lived in Newark for a short time and then moved into No. 24 Fairview. Both are enjoying good health and are looking forward to spending the summer at their summer home at Monroe, NY which they purchased some 30 years ago.
Still active in business affairs, Mr. Seidler is the founder and president of the Seidler Chemical and Supply Co, 16 Orange Street, Newark. A native of Newark, he is one of the oldest Masonic members of New Jersey, and also belongs to the Newark Rotary Club, the Elks, and the Newark Athletic Club, of which he is a founding member. Mrs. Seidler is the former Isabella Riker of New York City.13
