The original intent of this website was to (and still does) share the rather extensive transcription of old church records from Stein am Rhein in Switzerland for every occurrence of the name Bruetsch (Brütsch in German).  Since then, the information has expanded to also include genealogical information (family history) on the families listed to the left.

Genealogy has been a fascinating hobby for me.  Walking in the "footsteps" of ancestors has been a thrill:  on the Montana homestead to the towns of Ramsen and Frutigen in Switzerland.  You should try this hobby, if you are not already doing so!

Having fun with genealogy,  Walt Bruetsch

PS:  The photo below of Stein am Rhein is taken in front of the Sun Inn (Gasthof Sonne).  The wirth (proprietor) in 1667 - 1675, H. Johann Merkandorffer, was a witness to children born to Hans Jacob Brütsch.  This per the microfilm records in Volume 2.  I didn't know this when the picture was taken in 2001.  Notice the distinctive sign.
