Frieden Lutheran Church Book

Translation by
Henry Reeves

Produced by
David R. Koontz

In the 1960's the original church book was located through the efforts of Mr. David R. Koontz of Burlington, NC. From the original book, which was written in the German tongue, Mr. Henry Reeves of Lexington, NC, a friend of Mr. Koontz, translated the German entries into English.

In the spirit of Mr. Koontz' wish that "some interested party or parties" might take this transcription and make further copies for use by the many descendants of Friedens who live throughout this area -- the transcription, in searchable form is being made available to family researchers around the world.

In late 2000 I spoke by telephone with Mr. Koontz who still lives in Burlington, NC. He is retired and actively doing genealogy research. Many Researchers have asked me which Friedens Family is connected to Mr. Koontz, so I asked him this question. As far as he knows -- he has no kin who were at Friedens. Mr. Reeves descended from the Michael Family of Old Rowan.

I'm sure all Friedens Researchers -- past, present, and future -- joint me in extending our sincere thanks for his efforts in preserving these valuable historical records.
