SUBMITTER NOTES: Elizabeth was the daughter of Conrad Shoemaker, Sr. and his wife Susannah Youngman. She was born ca 1770 in Pennsylvania, and died either late 1838, or early 1839. She never married.

In the North Carolina Will Abstracts for Guilford County, C:770, it says that the will was written 29 April, 1823, and probated February 1839.
In it, she left Elijah Shoemaker, son of Leonard (this should read Conrad), $30.00;
Caty Shoemaker - $20.00.
Slaves Charlotte and Abnor to be set free - all my land if they care for my sister Barbery Shoemaker.
Executor was James Chilcut.
Witnesses were Martin Werick and Daniel Werick.

Will of Elizabeth Shoemaker

In the name of God Amen. Elizabeth Shoemaker of the County of Guilford and State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory, calling to mind the mortallity (sic) of the body that it is apointed (sic) once for man to die do ordain and make this my last will and testament in mannor (sic) and form as follows to wit...

1st I give unto Elijah Shoemaker son of Coonrad (sic) Shoemaker the sum of thirty dollars and to Caty Shoemaker the sum of twenty dollars to be raised out of my property.

2nd I leve (sic) my two nigros (sic) Charlotte & Abner to be free from any incumbrance (sic) the ballance (sic) of there (sic) lifetime for there (sic) services performed in taking care of me and is to take preticular (sic) care of my sister Barbery (sic) Shumaker. Her lifetime by the assistance of my property and left in there (sic) hands.

3rd I give and bequeathe (sic) unto Charlotte and Abner two nigros (sic) left free by me all my land where on I now live together with the rest of all personally Estate after my Debts is paid off and funeral expences.(sic)

4th I make and ordain James Chesnut my executor of this my last will and testament signed, sealed published and acknowlege this 29 day of April 1823. In the presents (sic) of

The Executors of the foregoing Last will & Testament of Elisabeth Shoemaker was proven in open Court by the .oats of the ..?...Witnesses.

Whereupon James Chesnut appeared in open Court and qualified as Executor of this foregoing Last Will and Testament.
