Henry Strickland was a
teamster. Not of the now AFL-CIO
variety, but, one who had a team of horses and hauled goods from place to
place. He appears on the 1880 Kansas

Caywood (Pansey's mother-in-law) got married, the flowers for her wedding came from
Julia's garden.

Notes for Effie May Strickland:
Per Pansey (Strickland) Caywood,
Grover Cleveland's daughter, Aunt Effie was a Wheeler when she was a kid. I have a picture of Effie and Martin
Wheeler. Pansey corresponded with
Effie at one time and said her letters were sweet and kind, but, there was not
much family history that she knew.
Notes for Martin Luther Wheeler:
According to Goldie McBride,
Martin Wheeler was a "Seer" who had an ancient Indian who would
manifest himself to Martin. When Samuel
Ennis Jr. was in the Pacific during WWII, Goldie asked Martin if Sam was going
to come home alive. Martin said he
would see if he could find out. A few
days later, he told Goldie that Sam would be fine and that he would come home
the sixth month of 1946. As predicted,
Sam was discharged June of 1946. Per
family lore, Martin would go into a trance-like state and the old Indian would
speak through him.

From Gordon Drollinger

of Adam. So I place him as a son of Adam, as Gabriel lived to Nov 1805. This
John received a grant of 500 acres from the state of NC. When he disposed of
his land, mainly to his sons, he signed his mark as a capital D. Nothing found

Henry (E.) Drollinger was born on

Notes for Adam Drollinger:
"Pennsylvania German
Pioneers" stated they were Palatine Immigrants departing Rotterdam, next
sailing to Dover, England, arrived at Philadelphia 20 Sept 1738 on the ship
"Friendship" commanded by Captain Beech. Adam Drolinger and Eberhardt Drolinger (probably cousins) left their home and made their way up the
Rhine River to Rotterdam and sailed by the way of the English Channel to Port
of Dover, England to Philadelphia. They immigrated, presumably, with their whole families. Eberhardt , it believed to
have settled in Pennsylvania, at least he did not go to North Carolina with
Adam. They arrived in September 1738
and took the Oath of Allegiance to the British Crown on September 20,
1738. Ada went with other
"Germans" to Orange (now Alamance) County, North Carolina. It is believed he may have lived in
Pennsylvania, maybe Burks County for a while before moving south. It was reported the move took place because
land was getting so expensive in Pennsylvania.
In Orange County he was instrumental in establishing a Union Lutheran
and Reformed Church on "the pike leading from Salisbury to Hillsborough at
Haw River."--Source: Rupp's German Immigrants and the Archives of Pennsylvania.
Ellmendingen is a small village
of about 5,000 about 15km outside of
Pforzheim. The Church books in
Ellmendingen start in 1616 and those in Dietlingen in 1600. About 3km from Ellmendingen is Dietenhausen
where Adam was supposed to have been born but the church there is very tiny and
the books are now part of the Ellmendingen registers. There is also the Gasthaus Adler there which has been run by the
Drollinger family for some time.

born August 03, 1731 in Ellmendingen, Baden; died 1798 in Dublin, Virginia;
married Barbara McCoy Abt. 1762.
Notes for Jakob Heinrich
"Henry" Drolinger:
During the Revolutionary War
Cornwalis passed by Jacob Henry's grist mill on the Haw River. Cornwalis was on
his way to the Guilford Battleground and camped over night. He took and destroyed the grain in Jacob's
Mill. This made the old gentleman very
angry and he told the General what he thought of him, whereupon Cornwalis had
him tied to a tree, with a bridle bit in his mouth, so he could neither speak
or extricate himself. They left him in this condition. He was found late in the evening and untied
by a Mrs. Rippy, who chanced to come to the mill. This treatment so enraged Jacob Henry he sent his eldest son,
John, to a cave in Virginia ( This cave he had found and explored when on his
way to this state from Pennsylvania.) to make powder to be used in the
Revolutionary War. John entered and settled on 640 acres of land in Montgomery
(now Pulaski), Virginia including the cave.
After sending his eldest son to Virginia, Jacob Henry sent his second
son, Henry, and a young Negro man named Thomas Husk, whom he owned, to General
Washington, with the written message that "he hoped both together would
make one good soldier," neither one being of age. Both remained in the Army until the close of
the War. After his return to his
father's, Henry married Mary Thomas, sister to Joseph Thomas, the great
evangelist, who was called the "White Pilgrim" because his apparel
was always white. Henry settled on the
home plantation, near his father.
Thomas Husk lived with the descendants of the family until his death at
the age of 90. He was buried in the
family cemetery at Haw River.
