Viola Pierce was born in Janesville Wisconsin in 1906, the first of 3 children to Alan Pierce and Carrie Sahloff. Viola grew up in Janesville and after graduating high school, lived in Chicago briefly. While in Chicago, Viola worked at the Pepsodent toothpaste factory. She returned to Janesville and married Ervin M Brown, and had 3 children, Bette Jane, Carolyn and Ervin George. Viola and her husband Ervin were very involved in the oddfellows lodge, and they ran a bait shop out of the house, as well as a trucking business. Ervin drowned while fishing with friends on Lake Wisconsin in 1944, leaving Viola to raise the 3 children. After the children were raised, Viola worked at the Parker Pen company, and married Elmer Weins. Viola and Elmer and enjoyed travel, visiting such places as Hawaii, Mexico and Europe. Viola died in 1983 in the home that she and Ervin had build in 1929 on Pine street.
