Adam Brouwer Group DNA Results

The information found here is taken from the Brewer DNA Project at FamilyTreeDNA (link above) and pertains to results that are similiar enough to conclude that the participating descendant is somehow a descendant of Adam Brouwer (sometimes called Adam Brouwer Berckhoven).

As of January 30, 2011 all results have been combined into one Grid Chart which allows for the test results to be more easily compared. Values that are highlighted in yellow are values that deviate from the model of the ancestor (which in this program is determined simply by majority). Patterns found in the highlighted values may be helpful in narrowing down potential relationships between those descended from the same ancestor (cousins). For example: in the chart below, at marker 9 (allele 439) the model value is 13, however, there are eight participants with the value 14. These eight are descendants of Adam Brouwer's son, Nicholas. In this example we have found a value, at a specific location, that most likely specific to descendants of Nicholas. Future participants who otherwise do not know their ancestry may be able to use this observation to narrow down the potential candidates they may be considering as their ancestor. Please see the description provided on the Jan Brouwer Group page for more background information.

The links to charts that follow are arranged by earliest known ancestor (EKA) and a list of corresponding kit numbers is included in the description of each chart.

 (Note: Kit #s 166627 and 175790 have declined the invitation to submit a pedigree and therefore their ancestries are not included among the charts).

• Pieter Brouwer Chart Participants can show a direct descent from Pieter Brouwer, eldest son of Adam Brouwer. Kit #s 30185, 55150, 159021, 207810.
• Jacob Brouwer Chart Participants in the Brewer DNA Project claim a confirmed line of descent from Adam Brewer of Monmouth County, New Jersey (claimed as a son of Jacob Adamsz Brouwer). Kit #s 32376, 50688.
• Abraham Brouwer Chart Participants show a direct line of descent from Adam Brouwer's son Abraham Brouwer. Kit #161350
• Nicholas Brouwer Chart Participants show a line of descent from Nicholas Brouwer, youngest son of Adam Brouwer. Kit #s 75657, 81173, 166986
• Jeremiah Brower/Brewer Chart Participants can show a confirmed line of descent from Jeremiah Brower or Brewer (1738-1822). Jeremiah is considered to be a grandson of the Nicholas Brouwer (above) although absolute evidence is still lacking. Kit #s 65385, 77803, 188348.
• Jeremiah John Brower Chart Jeremiah John Brower (1815-1887) is first found in Cass Co., Indiana in 1850, and from there went to Lucas Co., Iowa. A descendant who has participated in the Brewer DNA Project is shown to have descended from Adam Brouwer. The ancestry from Jeremiah John back to Adam Brouwer has not been determined but he is most likely a descendant of Nicholas Brouwer. Kit # 107708.
• Jacob Brewer, Chatham, Quebec Chart The participant is closely related to those descended from Nicholas Brouwer, and may be related to descendants of Jeremiah Brower/Brewer. Kit # 75657.
• Henry Brewer/Henrich Bruer Chart Henry Brewer is originally found in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. One descendant has participated in the Brewer DNA Project and the results show that the participant is a descendant of Adam Brouwer. The line from Henry back to Adam, however, has not yet been discovered. Kit # 32813
• Peter Brewer, PA to KY Chart Peter Brewer is first found in Westmoreland Co. Pa., and soon went to Hardin Co., Kentucky. One descendant has participated in the Brewer DNA Project and has demonstrated that he is descended from Adam Brouwer. The ancestry from Peter back to Adam has not yet been found. Kit # 28193.
• Henry Brewer of Adams Co., OH Chart The one participant matches the descendant of Henry Brewer/Henrich Bruer on 35 of 37 markers tested. He is a genetic descnedant of Adam Brouwer, but the exact ancestry has not been discovered. Kit # 182867.
• Wlliam Brewer (b.1777) Chart William Brewer, born 1777, lived in Philadelphia. The participation of a confirmed descendant in the Brewer DNA Project demonstrates that the descendant is descended from Adam Brouwer. The link from William back to Adam, however, has not yet been found. Kit # N46637.
