  • Nicholas Gesner and Robert Pitcairn exchanged a series of letters in the early 1850s regarding the status of the lawsuits against the Trinity Church Corp. In the letters Nicholas Gesner speaks of the length of time (over twenty years) and the cost (one number mentioned being $9000) he has invested in the efforts, and his disatisfaction of how nothing has come of it all.13

Whether anyone has been hired to take charge of the sloop I have not heard." on 1 March 1852.14
  • Robert Pitcairn was very active in pursuing his belief that his wife, Martha Manning, had legal claims to properties once owned by Nicholas Brower (1714-1778) and to the Trinity Church property once owned by Anneke Jans.15
