• She appeared on the census of 10 September 1850 at Phelps, Ontario Co., New York, as Leah Brower, age 82, born in New Jersey, with Catherine Murphy, age 48, and Daniel Murphy, age 23.⁴
• Leah's ancestry and maiden name have not yet been discovered. Some have called her "Leah Brower," and have claimed her as a daughter of Lazerus Brower (1731-1820) but without offering any proof. Although Lazerus Brower had seven children, none of them were named Leah. Leah may or may not be a Brower. Presently, no evidence has been found to claim her as a Brower.
