He was a blacksmith and settled at Wethersfield, Connecticut after the war with the Pequots. He was Clerk of the Train Band in 1640, Deputy to the General Court, Grand Juror and Constable in 1644. In 1660 the town of Wethersfield granted Thomas Hurlbut lot 39, one of "four score acre lots." On 12 Oct 1671 he was granted 120 acres of land for his service during the Indian wars.1
