  • Dirck Ammerman (or Amerman) took the oath of allegiance in Kings Co. in Sep. 1687, then living in Flatlands. He stated that he had been in this country for 37 years, implying that he came to New Netherlands in 1650. He and his wife, Aeltie Van der Beek were members of the Flatlands Dutch Church in 1677. He was a deacon at the Flatlands Church in 1682, and an elder in 1703. He was on the assesment rolls at Flatlands in 1693 and recorded on the census in 1698. He served as an Ensign in the Flatlands militia in 1689, and was a Captian in 1690. Baptism records exist for only four of his ten children.3
