Bruere died without disposing of these two pieces of land and leaving heirs, all his children. Children of John H. Bruere: Susan Hunt, late Susan Bruere, wife of Asa Hunt; Ruth Tilton, late Ruth Bruere, wife of William Tilton; Price Bruere, Napolean B. Bruere; Joseph B. Bruere; George W. Bruere; and John Bruere. Susan, John and Stephen were the only children over 21 years of age.
    In Book M, page 77, Nov 1847, John H. Bruere's land was sold, and his widow, Ann Bruere, relinquished her right of dower.10

  • Peter Bruere died on 9 July 1779 at Allentown, Monmouth Co., New Jersey; The New Jersey Gazette of Wednesday, September 1, 1779, states that "Monday last Peter Brewer of Allentown died, being upwards of 100 years of age."5,3

  • Pierre came to America in 1709 with his parents, two brothers and two sisters. The parents, Jacque and Louise Bruyere died presumably aboard ship as the children are listed on the "Census and Orphans list of 1710-1712." Pierre must have come to Allentown, New Jersey with his Aunt Susannah (Thibaud) Bruyere, wife of Pierre Bruyere (brother of Jacque Bruyere). "The Colonial Census of 1710 from Vol. III Documentary History of New York, list of Paatines remaining in New York, shows: Jeane Bruiere, 18; Jaque Bruiere, 15; Susannah Bruiere, 6 (Pierre is not recorded in New York).3

  • His will was dated on 20 April 1776 appoints James Bruere, executor. "The executor acted as such but never proved the will, or filed it in the Perogative office, or took out letters of testamentary."5
  • Stated to be the American ancestor of the family, he was a native of France and came to America in 1690, with his mother who was a widow. They resided in Allentown, Monmouth County, New Jersey, and in 1744, Pierre Bruere, took out his naturalization papers. Later in the same year he married Eleanor Price and had three children (two daughters, one son).4
