  • No man named Mathew Brewer or Brower is found in Pennsylvania in a search of the 1790 census. Census records for the year 1790 for the State of New Jersey are lost.

(This is the only man named Mathew Brewer or Brower found in the State of Pennsylvania in 1800). A Jacob Emmery and a John Emmery are also recorded at Bethel and Belfast, Bedford Co., Pa. on the same census (which is recorded alphabetically).7

  • On 17 July 1815 A Matthew Brewer of the Township of Buffalo, Union Co., Pennsylvania applied for 48 acres of unimproved land in that township adjoining the lands of Matthew Brewer on the east, ? and Kleckner on the west, and Jacob Liebich on the north. Signs his name. John Brewer, signing with his mark, testified that the land was unimproved. (No Matthew Brewer, or John Brewer, is found on the 1820 census at Buffalo, Pennsylvania.9
