Jutta and I drove to Canandaigua today and met my parents for a ride down to take care of matters. On the way we drove past the house where my mother said Nellie taught school the year before she was married-- 1898/99. Unfortunately I didn't bring my camera, so no picture. But it is just off rt 5 & 20 and I drive right by it all the time on the way to and from Keuka. It is right across the street from the driveway to a Lowe's store. Bogardus Collection, Anneke Jans and Everardus Bogardus Descendants Association, Wilmington, Ohio. Privately printed. This work contains errors, among them the false account of Anneke Jans descent from William of Orange. This account had been proved a fantasy long before 1988, so why it was included in the reprint edition defies explanation. The account of Pieter Adamsz Brouwer is also in error, and there may be other errors with the earlier Brouwer generations. Latter generations, however, are recounted by descendants who lived in the latter part of the 19th and first half of the 20th centuries, and the ancestors who they describe were their parents and grandparents generations. The work is a valuable accounting of this Brouwer/Brewer family through the 1800's. An addition to the original, by Sharon Brewer Dodge, includes her Brewer lineage with the incorrect claim that her ancestor, Willis Brewer of North Carolina, was a son of Jacob Brouwer (b.1709) and a grandson of Sijbrandt Brouwer & Sarah Webber of New York City (this claim has no basis in fact). There is also a short note from William B. Bogardus who questions this connection. p.17. Hereinafter cited as Three Hundred Years in America.

Bogardus who questions this connection. p.19. Hereinafter cited as Three Hundred Years in America.
