  • Jay H. Brower (publisher of the Brower Family Circle) is author of most of the published information on Hubert Brower and his descendants. He is a descendant of Hubert Brower through his son Christian. "The Browers of Coventry Twp., Chester Co., Pa." was published in Mennonite Family History v.4, no.3 in 1985.
  • A posting on 19 Feb 2007 to the Brower Surname Mail List at Roots Web by David Otto, Ph.D. states that he had acquired the "Pass" used by Hurbert Brower at the time of his immigration to Philadelphia.6
  • Little, in fact almost nothing, is known of Hubert Brower after his arrival at Philadelphia. It is not known where he lived or when and where he or his wife died. His three sons settled on the Schuylkill River in Coventry, Chester Co., Pennsylvania in the early 1740s.

[S4865] Tired of Life, Red Bank Register, unknown location, June 29, 1892, page 1, "Isaac Brower, a farm laborer living near Montrose died about three o'clock on Friday morning from the effects of a dose of paris green which he had taken the previous day. Mr. Brower was 66 years old and lived with his wife in a house owned by Conover Smock. He was a drinking man and had been drinking previous to taking the paris green. At five o'clock on Thursday afternoon he complained of feeling unwell and commenced to vomit. It was then that his wife made the discovery that he had taken paris green. There was no one to send after a physician and Mrs. Brower did what she could for her husband until death came to his relief.
    The funeral took place from the house at two o'clock on Sunday afternoon and from the Brick Church at Marlboro an hour later. The services were conducted by Rev. S. R. Cunningham of Colt's Neck. The internment was in the church graveyard.
    Mr. Brower was a veteran of the late war, having served in the Fourteenth New Jersey volunteers. He was wounded twice and received a pension of $4 per month. About fifteen years ago he received back bounty of $500.
    Forty years ago he married Miss Mary E. Clayton. They had a family of seven children, three of whom are dead. The children living are Mrs. William Burke of Englishtown, Edward and Joseph C.
