• According to Portrait and biographical record of Seneca and Schuyler Counties, New York, Martin Metzger came to Seneca County, New York as early as 1832, locating in the town of Fayette, where he purchased one hundred acres of land. He and his wife were the parents of a large family of whom six children reached adulthood. The eldest son, Martin, died at age 24.⁶
