  • Michael Lampman was born on 28 November 1729 at Loonenburg, (then Albany Co.), New York.3
  • He was baptized on 10 December 1729; sponsors Johan Michael Plank and Lisabeth Reutern (Loonenburg Luth. Chbk.) (The baptism is also recorded in the Christian Protestant Lutheran Congregation of New York City, which included Albany, New York).3,4
  • He married Maria Brouwer, daughter of Jacob Pietersz Brouwer and Maria Bovy, at Reformed Dutch Church, Albany, New York, on 6 October 1751 "after 3 pr. Michael Landtman y.m. and Maria Brouwer y.d. both of Hosack."5,6
  • Michael Lampman died on 11 December 1811 at Quebec, Canada.
  • Also known as Johann Michael Lampman.4
  • Surname is also spelled Landtman; as well as Lantman and Landman.5
  • Michael Lampman and Maria Brouwer resided at Hoosick, (then Albany Co.), New York.7
  • Michael Lampman witnessed the baptism of Maria Lampman , daughter of Jacob Lampman and Lydia Phillips, at Dutch Reformed Church, Schaghticoke, (now Rensselaer Co.), New York, (sponsors Michael Lampman and Maria Brouwer).8
  • John Michael Lampman served on the Committee of Saftey for the Sinkaick and Hoosick District, Albany Co., New York. He was 1st Lieut. Michael Lampman in the 14th Albany regiment of militia from Hoosick and Schaghticoke Districts, and the Capt. John Lampman of the 6th Regt. Rensselaer militia. There is a difference in printed statements concerning records of the Committee of Public Saftey. One says John Michael furnished bail twice within five days for his son Jacob accused of Tory activities. But the record of the Committee as published (see Albany Co. minutes) states in 1781, Jacob Lantman of Hoosack, farmer, was accused of a 1777 murder. In 1781, Jacob Lantman was arrested and denied the charge. Also in 1781, Jacob, and brother, Michael were released on bail. In 1786, Jacob was a Lieut. in Capt. Samuel Shaw's Albany Co. militia, in 1788 in Capt. Matthew Randall's Albany Co. militia, and in 1791 in Capt. Benjamin Hawk's Rensselaer Co. militia. The Tory story may be in error.7
  • Michael Lampman witnessed the baptism of Michael Lampman , son of Jacob Lampman and Lydia Phillips, at Dutch Reformed Church, Schaghticoke, (now Rensselaer Co.), New York, (sponsors Michal Lampman, Maria Brouwer.).9
  • Michael Lampman witnessed the baptism of Michael Lampman , son of Peter Lampman and Anna Hogel, at Dutch Reformed Church, Schaghticoke, (now Rensselaer Co.), New York, (sponsors Michael Lampman and Maria Brower).8

  • Michael Lampman witnessed the baptism of Maria Lampman , daughter of Peter Lampman and Anna Hogel, at Gilead Lutheran Church, Center Brunswick, (now Rensselaer Co.), New York.
  • Michael Lampman was an early settler at Highgate, Vermont, in 1787 he was elected the first Selectman there in 1791, along with John Hilliker and John Wagoner.10
  • He appeared on the census of 1790 at Swanton, (then Chittenden Co.), Vermont, with a family of 4 males over 16, 0 males under 16, 2 females, and one other (probably a slave).7
  • He appeared on the census of 1790 at Highgate, Chittenden Co., Vermont, with a family of 4 males over 16, 0 males under 16, 2 females, and 1 other (probably a slave).11
  • No Michael Lampman appears in the 1800 U.S. census in Vermont.12
  • Michael and his family moved to Dunham, Quebec, probably around 1800. He and his wife, Mary Brewer, deeded their farm of 130 acres, Lot 10 in the 7th range of Dunham with grist and sawmill to his son Henry and his daughter Harriet, wife of Jacob Hilliker of Dunham on 15 Feb 1806.13
  • All of Michael's sons, except Jacob, went to Vermont in about 1786, after the Revolution. "They were not Tory but the boundary with Canada was not definite, and two, Abraham and Henry went on to Quebec." Probable son, Mikel (spelled Mikle) was an Associate of Stanbridge Twp., No.32 on a list dated 22 May 1801 for Lot 2 Concession 1. Mikel probably went on, in 1802, to Sutton, Quebec, further east, as an Associate.12
