Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. H.A. Rogers, were held at her late home about four miles northeast of town. Mahala Croy was born in Petersburg, New York, April 9, 1802. She was married to Jeremiah Brewer in 1834, removing to Wisconsin in 1844, where she lived until her death. There were born to them four children: John W., Peter W., Hannah M., and George W., all living to administer comfort to their mother in her last moments. Mrs. Brewer embraced the Christian religion at the age of 18 years and remained a faithful member of the M.E. Church until her death. The afflicted husband and children of the deceased have the sympathy of all in this dark hour."5
