He settled at Tecumseh, Michigan in about 1837. In 1848 or 1851 he purchased the Tecumseh Foundry and Steam Engine Works. The business name was changed to H. Brewer & Co. in 1871. Horace operated the business until his death at which time his son Albert and grandson Horace Raynor Brewer continued operation until 1917 when it was sold out of the family.²
Horace Brewer died on 11 December 1881 Tecumseh, Lenawee Co., Michigan.²
